Hello! I’m Ana Compañy Martínez, a translator, editor and proofreader, content writer, and teacher, or as I like to call myself, a linguistic moonlighter.

Translator, Editor, and Proofreader

I graduated in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Alicante back in 2014, and I’ve been wandering through the world of languages and translation ever since. In addition to completing a Master’s in Institutional Translation from the University of Alicante and a Master’s in Literary Translation from the Complutense University of Madrid, I also spent time abroad: I enjoyed an Erasmus placement at the University of East Anglia (UK), worked in Germany as a language teaching assistant, and spent a year in Canada as a localisation tester in the video game industry.

Right now, I combine my work as a translator with teaching. I’m a university teacher at the University of Alicante, where I’m also pursuing my PhD, focusing on the translation of popular commercial novels. I am always eager to keep learning and improving, and have taken courses such as the Specialist in Orthotypographical Proofreading (2021) by Trágora Formación, the German-Spanish Literary Translation Course (2022) by ISTRAD, and the Copyediting Course (2024) by Cálamo y Cran, among others.

Whether working or enjoying my free time, you will usually find me surrounded by books with a cup of tea in hand, but an ice rink is not a bad place to look for me.
